Reflecting On Who We Are Today

Discover the story behind Soundly Fostering's new brand and website. Inspired by creativity, relationships, and thoughtful support, our refreshed identity reflects who we are today while staying true to the values that have guided us from the beginning.

Reflecting On Who We Are Today

Over the past few years, Soundly Fostering has grown, evolved, and learned more about what matters most in fostering.

While much has changed since Soundly Fostering was founded in 2021 and opened as an Ofsted-registered agency in January 2022, the things at the heart of our work have remained the same: meaningful relationships, thoughtful support, honesty, and staying close to the people we work alongside.

As we have continued to develop as an agency, we felt it was time for our brand and website to better reflect who we are today.

This isn't about becoming something new. It's about creating a clearer reflection of who we have always been.

Why We Chose to Refresh Our Brand

When Soundly Fostering was founded by Joy O'Brien-Miller and Katharina (Kat) Carter, it was built with a clear intention.

After years of working within increasingly large and corporate environments, they wanted to create something different. An agency where people knew each other. An agency where support felt personal. An agency where relationships mattered as much as processes.

Since then, Soundly has grown steadily, welcoming carers, children, and professionals into a community built on trust, reflection, and genuine connection.

As the agency developed, we began asking ourselves an important question:

Does our brand truly reflect the experience people have when they work with us?

The answer was not quite.

The support we provide is thoughtful, personal, and relationship-led. We wanted our visual identity, messaging, and website to communicate those qualities more clearly.

We wanted people visiting our website to gain a better understanding of who we are, what we believe in, and how we support carers and children.

Most importantly, we wanted our brand to feel more human.

The Inspiration Behind Our Refreshed Look

One of the most meaningful parts of this project is where the inspiration came from.

While our visual identity has evolved, the watercolour artwork itself is not new. The paintings that have inspired our refreshed brand were originally created by our Registered Manager and Co-Founder, Kat, when Soundly first began. In fact, they featured on our very first website and reflected many of the values that inspired the agency from the beginning.

As we developed this latest version of the website, it felt right to revisit those original ideas and bring them forward in a way that reflects both where we started and how far we have come.

In many ways, this refresh is not about moving away from our roots. It is about returning to them with greater clarity, confidence, and experience.

For us, the watercolour artwork remains a natural fit. Watercolour is thoughtful rather than rigid. It allows colours to blend, adapt, and develop in unexpected ways. No two paintings are ever exactly the same. In many ways, fostering is similar. No two children are the same. No two carers are the same. No two fostering journeys are the same.

Every child arrives with their own experiences, strengths, hopes, and challenges. Every fostering household brings its own story, personality, and way of caring.

The soft colours and hand-painted elements within our refreshed branding reflect this individuality while also capturing the warmth, creativity, and humanity that sit at the heart of fostering. Rather than creating something entirely new, we wanted to create something that felt authentic to who we are, both now and when Soundly first began.

Rather than creating something corporate or polished for the sake of appearances, we wanted to create something that felt authentic to who we are. It’s something that is uniquely us and no one else has.

What Hasn't Changed

Although our website and branding may look different, the things that matter most remain exactly the same.

We are still a small, independent fostering agency.

We still believe fostering works best when support feels personal, consistent, and genuinely present. We still know our carers personally. We still take time to understand each child as an individual. We still believe that reflective conversations are just as important as practical support. We still believe that relationships matter.

Remaining intentionally small has never been about staying small for the sake of it. It is about protecting the quality of support we provide and ensuring that carers and children never feel like numbers within a system.

It allows us to stay involved, stay connected, and respond thoughtfully when people need us most.

Looking Ahead

This new website gives us an opportunity to share more of what we do and how we work.

Over the coming months, we will be using our blog and resources section to answer common questions about fostering, share insights, provide guidance, and explore topics that matter to carers, children, and professionals.

We hope these resources help people better understand the realities of fostering and the support available to them.

Whether someone is considering fostering for the first time, exploring a transfer, or working alongside us as a professional partner, we want our website to be a place that feels informative, welcoming, and honest.

Thank You

To our foster carers, children, colleagues, and professional partners, thank you.

Your trust, feedback, and support have all played a part in shaping who we are today.

This new chapter reflects the journey we have been on together and the values that continue to guide our work every day.

While our look may have changed, our purpose remains the same. To show up with honesty, steadiness, and care. To support carers and children thoughtfully. And to stay close when it matters most.

Whether you've been part of the Soundly community for years or are discovering us for the first time, we're glad you're here.

Welcome to the next chapter of Soundly Fostering.
